Arkansas Museum of Fine ArtA Premier Cultural Institution
The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts is a cultural anchor for the city of Little Rock. The Museum is home to a permanent collection of over 14,000 objects as well as rotating exhibitions, performance programming and the Windgate Art School. A major architectural renovation by Studio Gang focused on bringing the visual and performing arts under one roof. As a result, AMFA re-opened its doors as a more inclusive and community-focused institution. The new website needed to reflect that transformation and clearly communicate the full scope of what the Museum offers to a broader, more diverse audience.

Strategy
The strategy for the AMFA website redesign focused on clarity, ease of use, and alignment with how visitors actually see and experience the museum.
We structured the site around audience needs rather than internal departments so that visitors can quickly understand what’s happening now, what’s coming up, and how to participate. The goal was to reduce friction, improve discovery, and make the Museum feel accessible to first-time visitors while still serving members, students, and repeat patrons.

Brand Identity
While AMFA’s visual identity was already established, the website needed to apply that system consistently and confidently across a complex set of content. Few worked within the existing brand guidelines to extend the identity into a flexible digital experience that feels contemporary, calm, and welcoming.
Typography, color, and layout choices reinforce AMFA’s positioning as a modern cultural institution while giving appropriate balance to featured artwork and programming. The site emphasizes restraint and clarity, allowing exhibitions, performances, and educational offerings to take visual priority without competing with the brand itself.

Web Design
The website design balances strong visual storytelling with practical usability. Featured exhibitions and programs lead the experience through bold hero moments, while supporting content is organized in clear, scannable layouts. Card-based components make it easy to browse events, classes, and performances without overwhelming the user.
Special attention was given to navigation and page hierarchy. Key actions like planning a visit, viewing the calendar, or registering for classes are always easy to find. The design system supports frequent content updates and seasonal programming shifts without requiring structural changes to the site.

Web Development
Few built the site as a responsive, scalable platform that supports AMFA’s evolving needs. Performance, accessibility, and maintainability were core considerations throughout development. The site works smoothly across devices, making it easy for users to explore exhibitions or plan a visit on the go.
The backend supports ongoing content updates by AMFA’s internal team, allowing staff to manage exhibitions, events, and educational programs without technical friction. The result is a stable, flexible foundation that can grow alongside the Museum’s programming and community impact.
